Merit Badge Requirements & Worksheets | Look below to see our photos from our 20 mile day hike on 2/28/04. We hiked from the Pat's Island Trail Head to Juniper Springs Campground and back to the Trail Head, plus a detour to the Big Sink Hole along the Yearling Trail.
Everyone was in high spirits a few miles in to the hike. Here, Mrs. Eileen P., is the head cheermeister.
As the day unfolded, we were soon at 84 degrees.
Touching the pavement on Route 40 was a requirement and just behind this stop sign is where we all tapped the ground. At this point, just before lunch we were about 50% towards our goal.
Muscles were aching on the way back and everyone took advantage of a five minute break to lay down and rest.
Alex N. is sleep-sitting.
The scenery was beautiful.
Mrs. Eileen P. is taking a break and a quick snack while reviewing the map.
It was a gorgeous day.
Two happy hikers!
Uh oh. Who is this hiker? (See below.)
It looks like a perfect spot for a quick rest.
Um, Dave...wake up...it is time to continue. Dave??
More sleep sitting by Mohid M., except he is kneeling.
Bryan H. is asking for a little peace and quiet
Just one mile or so from the end, we took a detour to check out an enormous sink hole. Here the Scouts are sitting, just staring at a big hole in the ground.
It was just a big hole...you would think that there was really something exciting down there!
Here we are all at the end of a wonderful day; with 20 miles under our belts! Congratulations!
